Ali Henry is a singer/songwriter and jazz vocalist from Kelowna, British Columbia. With a background rooted in gospel music from early childhood, she began listening to artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James, Eva Cassidy, Rosemary Clooney, Christine Duncan and Dave Brubeck, which developed her passion for jazz, R&B, and bossa nova standards. Ali traveled throughout Southern California where she gained experience in both live performance and studio recording.

With the launch of her debut Album in 2011 ‘On My Mind’, Ali teamed up with pianist Neville Bowman, and double bassist Bernie Addington of Kelowna. The trio has been performing a large repertoire of jazz standards throughout the Okanagan valley.

Recently, Ali has been working with guitarist Eric Tompkins in Prince George, British Columbia. Eric and Ali recently released an original tune entitled ‘My Love’. With Eric on guitar and Ali on the cajon, the duo’s sound provides an atmosphere both intimate and upbeat.

In a live performance, Ali takes her audience on a journey through many styles and rhythms. A typical set might begin with the warm, sensual rhythms of Brazil and conclude with an emotionally charged blues song in the Etta James tradition.

With a flare for adventure, Ali is known to reinterpret and improvise on many familiar tunes, often ending up with entirely new melodies, lyrics and rhythmic grooves. Her playfully, collaborative approach to music, along with a tender yet exhilarating voice, makes an evening with Ali Henry a memorable experience.
