Artist Bio:
“When all the trends fade and become dated, and all the music from the cutting edge becomes dull, Linda McRae will continue to stand tall, singing and playing music with honest soul and humility, cutting through the fog with her timeless clarity. Linda is one of the true, soulful pioneers of honest roots music. Her singing and playing brings honour to her heroes and to her friends and fans.” Colin Linden (Grammy Nominee, Producer, Guitarist for Bruce Cockburn, Emmy Lou Harris, Krauss & Plant).

Linda is a Canadian singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who earned 2 Platinum and 3 Gold records as bassist/accordionist with former Canadian Celtic/Roots group Spirit of the West. Linda left the band to resume her solo career and has since released three critically acclaimed recordings. Flying Jenny produced by Colin Linden (Bruce Cockburn, Emmy Lou Harris), Cryin’ Out Loud produced by Gurf Morlix (Lucinda Williams, Mary Gauthier) and Linda’s current release Carve It To The Heart produced by Linda and Marc L’Esperance (Po’ Girl, Be Good Tanyas) have all received the highest praise from reviewers world-wide.

Linda’s soaring, honest, vocals hold nothing back. She nails a song to the wall. This gifted singer, songwriter, musician, plays clawhammer banjo, acoustic guitar, accordion and porchboard bass, combining old-time sounds with universal themes of heartbreak & redemption offering an intriguing sepia postcard from the past that is vibrant and alive in the present. So far this year Linda has toured Ireland and the UK twice. She has also performed at numerous festivals in Canada, the US and the UK and in October 13-16 2011 will find Linda conducting a song circle, workshops and a concert at California’s infamous Folsom Prison. She is also currently working on her fourth solo recording Rough Edges and Ragged Hearts scheduled for release in April 2012.
