Artist Bio:

Ana Bon-Bon grew up in Vegreville, Alberta in the Canadian Prairies, taking accordion lessons as a child. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art in 1997, and then remained in Vancouver for thirteen years, gaining significant professional experience amongst the multi-faceted blues, roots, rockabilly, punk, swing, burlesque, underground, highbrow and lowbrow art and music scenes of the West. Bon- Bon performs internationally and in 2008 was awarded a Canada Council for the Arts grant to write music in Paris, France. She has published articles in BC Musician Magazine and continues to develop her songwriting in the genres of cabaret, blues, spirituals and rock music. An integral part of the Canadian roots music scene, Bon-Bon is a regular guest on the perversely diverse Accordion Noir Radio CFRO 102.7fm. She most recently recorded a 45rpm with some of Vancouver’s best players (Sandy Bone, Jimmy Roy, Paul Pigat, and Phil Addington), squeezing every droplet from her theme Song ‘Bathtime’ and the rousing favourite ‘Someone Let the Kitty Out’. Bon-Bon has previously released two solo albums~ BARE NAKED BLUES~2007 and SISTER~2001, an EP with her country-blues accordion/fiddle duo, BON-BON&ROSE, and is featured vocalist on two of alternative country punks ‘SWANK’ albums and video. She was also frontwoman and songwriter for her hard-rock band HARD CANDY and performed vaudevillian burlesque as a principal member of the creatively uninhibited EMPIRE FOLLIES Burlesque Troupe in Canada.
