Coldsnap 2011 Applications
Thanks so much for checking us out!
Right after the current Coldsnap Festival I usually have already an artist list for the following year on the go that far exceeds the number I can realistically program. Throughout the process of deciding upon the final line-up new artists are also discovered through my own research, submissions, agencies, record companies and personal contacts. For mainstage shows I hire established artists with a national/international following, emerging artists with provincial/national touring experience and local/regional artists.
I review the overall mix of the line-up as I go through the process and hire artists based on the strength of their performances, references and material, plus their fit within our event in particular re genre, venue suitability.
Having said this practical to the point stuff, if you wish to perform at the Festival and/or events throughout the year, please send a short email introducing yourself and your music with a link to your website, MySpace, Electronic Press Kit etc. All artists are usually expected to take part in some kind of workshop also.
For our concert series in the year, September through May, I usually have finished booking by the end of June to coincide with grant applications. However, for different reasons the series line ups can change so please still apply. It can be difficult for artists, especially emerging artists, finalising tour details so early on.
It’s a good idea to check out the various artists who have performed here to give you somehwhat of a flavour of our festival.
I am sorry but due to the hundreds of inquiries I receive each year [in addition to my own very lengthy list], I just don’t, as a volunteer with a dayjob, have the resources to discuss every applicant’s work or to respond to questions regarding all submissions. I totally check out each application and if interested will be in touch. I try my best to respond to most applicants though.
Our festival runs the gamut of eclectic music and we are not boxed in genre wise at all. Our programming is diverse and is targeted at all ages shows with wide demographics.
Thanks,
Jo Beattie

Hey Jo! I’m Jesse O’Reilly (Singer/Guitarist) and form one half of the creative core of “A Fistful Of Dollars” (along side Kevin Bekevich – Singer/Bassist). We are an original Country Roots band from Southern (formerly northern) Alberta, who write tunes ranging in style from Outlaw, to alt, to more nashville country. Our performance schedual for the coming months is fairly busy and we are currently making plans for a Canadian/interprovincial tour. In addition, we are both in the process of recording a 6 song EP AND have a pending application for an album grant from the Alberta Foundation Of The Arts. We love the look and sound of your festival and are HIGHLY interested in performing if possible. Please consider us for this fine venue! Cheers!
Jesse/AFOD.

Hi Jo, my name is Eric Lemoine. My band The F-Holes are very interested in performing at the 2011 edition of the Coldsnap Festival. Already this year we are slated to perform at the Salmon Arm Roots and Blues Festival, the Fire and Water Music Festival, the Manitoba Stampede and the Robson Valley Music Festival. We would love to add Coldsnap to that list . Here’s a couple links if you would like to hear our disc:

Hi,
Is it to late to play at the 2010 lineup? If not we would love to be considered for the 2011 lineup. I am managing a band out of Vancouver, Canada called Louder than Love. They released there debut album in late October “Dark Days” and have been getting fantastic reviews. They have been playing and packing the local scene and the album has been getting great reviews from assorted publications. I have included their social media links below where music can be heard as well as press and media can be read. Thanks for your consideration.

Hi there
My name is Adam Bulley and I play in a award winning guitar duo here in Scotland. I was wondering if you might be able to send me a contact address so we may be considered for future festivals?
Here is our biog for more info:
Kind regards
Adam
Wingin’ It are a fresh and dynamic duo, rapidly gaining attention on the Scottish music scene. Having won a ‘Danny Kyle’ award at Celtic Connections ’07, they have gone on to perform at festivals all over Scotland. Expect music from a wide range of styles, including Bluegrass, Folk, Jazz and Classical. Between them they have performed with world class artists such as Martin Taylor, Clive Carroll, John Goldie, Kris Drever and Lau.
‘they were a dazzling, jazzy, very funny, breath of fresh air. They left some traditionalist mouths hanging open, but the boys absolutely nailed it.’
Stuart Morrison, The Herald
‘Two as competent musicians as you could wish to find’
Mandolin.org
Dazzling interplay between guitar and mandolin and mesmerising jazzy riffs are the band’s hallmark and they had the balls to knock out a fantastic acoustic version of Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick in the Wall” to a folkie crowd champing at the Fisher-bit – respect!
Tom Harland, Garden Sessions
‘Mandolin/guitar duo ‘Wingin’ It!’ delivered a fingerlicking blend of Americana and world music flavours’
Sue Wilson – Scotsman
“Two brilliant young guitarists. These guys really impressed me with their musicianship and stage presence. I think they’re great.”

Hi Jo. I was looking up contacts for P.G . looking to book a show for this fall as part of a cd release tour i.e. Artspace…and found the “coldsnap festival”. PG was a regular stop in my touring a few years ago and I’m keen to connect again. I would like to be a part ofd the coldsnap festival..I have been a part of the Frostbite festival in Whitehorse a few times so I ‘ve s till got good antifreeze(that’s me trying to be funny) It would be a good opportunity to promote a coldsnap gig at a late Oct-Nov show in P.G. I’ll be working on the new disc this summer so I could forward some new material as I get closer to completion. Anyways check out what I have on the site and hopefully I’m a good fit. Thanks Gerry
Hi again My comments jumped up to the awaiting moderation so I hope that means it wil;l transmit. Thanks Gerry
